Owning and operating a high-performance building is an ongoing process that requires the monitoring of building systems, including sustainability measures. You should periodically revisit the list of sustainability measures enumerated in Step 1 of this Toolkit and determine whether it makes sense to pursue additional upgrades to your facility. Revisiting previous upgrades to ensure they are functioning as intended is a process called commissioning, and it’s highly encouraged (you can find out more about building commissioning in the Energy Efficiency section of the Toolkit).
High-performance is not limited to sustainability alone. We encourage you to visit the other sections of the Building Owner’s Toolkit to improve your facility’s Energy Efficiency, Safety, Occupant Productivity, and Resiliency.
